Badger® organic Cuticle Care Balm is made completely from certified organic ingredients; no chemical laboratory fragrances or artificial ingredients are ever used. Other ingredients are ecologically harvested, grown wild, and/or are fair trade.

Products with an "organic" icon are comprised of at least 95% organic materials and have a certification by a third party agency, details of which can be found on the product itself. Organic products are best for the environment because they greatly reduce the use of pesticides and foster sustainable agriculture.Products with the icon "locally made" are manufactured in New Hampshire. Buying locally made products allows consumers to support their local economy and reduce a product's transportation carbon footprint.Products with the icon "wild harvested" include plant matter gathered from the natural environment in a sustainable manner without the aid of any agricultural processes.Products with the icon "biodegradable" are typically broken down and/or consumed by other living organisms, mostly bacteria, into basic elements found in nature without toxic by-products. An example of a biodegradable standards from the EU includes: "a product, liquid, or chemical is considered biodegradable if 90% is broken down within six months." Biodegradable products may not necessarily be compostable.Products with the icon "low/no packaging" are minimally packaged with protective coverings that have been reused, can be composted, or are completely recyclable. Low packaging is sometimes more desirable for containment (tea), for cleanliness (a baby's teether), or for holding parts together (a set of sheets). Since packaging almost always contributes a negative environmental impact, shoppers should consider products having the least amount of packaging. Cooking oil, processed foods, laundry/cleaning products and personal care items (bars of soap) are the most common products containing palm oil. Given the continued increase of demand for palm oil and the consequential destruction of the rain forests, choosing palm oil-free products is a smart environmental alternative.
