SEE HOW YOU DO...

Recycling ...
I am way too busy to recycle and besides, I don't think they do it in my town.
I recycle most of my plastic, paper, glass, and metal.
I recycle and separate all of my trash into organic and inorganic, and I compost.
I have very little to recycle because I buy in bulk, read the news on my computer, and always properly dispose of batteries, ink cartridges, and any other toxins.
Water Bottles ...
I only drink natural spring fresh water in individual bottles.
I refill my disposable plastic water bottle when I can to save a little money.
I use a reusable water bottle and never buy water.
I use a stainless steel water bottle since it is already partly recycled to begin with, can be recycled again, and is the safest, non-leaching option next to glass.
Clothing ...
I love shopping at outlets where I can get the best bang for my buck.
I try to buy good quality U.S. made or Fair Trade products when possible.
I buy organic clothing when possible to reduce pesticide and chemical use.
I reduce over-consumption by shopping at thrift stores, buy hemp clothing when possible, and fair trade organics and non-animal products the other times.
Electricity ...
I turn the lights off when I leave for work but leave some on at night for security.
I turn the lights off when I leave a room and my computer off when not in use.
I turn off surge protectors and use smart strips to omit idle energy, and all of my appliances are energy efficient models.
I generate so much electricity from renewable resources that the local electrical company buys back half of my electricity.
Car Use ...
For safety purposes I drive an SUV.
I carefully plan how many trips I make for my errands, and sometimes I carpool.
I drive a hybrid, keep my tires inflated, and I use my bike when possible.
I don't own a car. I use the bus or ride my bike, and I rent a car or take public transportation for long trips.
Flashlights ...
I love those throw away flashlights - the ones that are so handy at the check-out.
I use the small high intensity flashlights for their efficiency.
I use rechargeable batteries in my flashlights.
I don't need batteries. I have flashlights that are solar, crank or shake for power.
Composting ...
  Isn't that something farmers do?
I compost in the good weather but I hate going out in the winter.
I use a bucket under the sink and when it's full, I take it outside to the compost.
I use the worm method of composting - very efficient and it makes fantastic soil.
Cleaning ...
There's nothing like chlorine for getting the dirt out. Whatever it takes.
I like the new eco disposable wipes and the micro-fiber cloths.
I like all the new and different green cleaning products for every job.
I use natural cleaning products like vinegar and baking soda for almost everything.
Heating ...
I only have one life - I refuse to be cold and besides, I can afford it.
I keep the house at 70 degrees and lower the thermostat at night.
I dress in layers in cold weather and use flannel sheets, so 66 degrees during the day and 56 degrees at night is no problem.
In addition, my programmable thermostat automatically lowers the temperature while we are away at work and at night, so we never forget.
Light Bulbs ...
I'm afraid of the dark so I like to leave lights on.
I have a few fluorescent bulbs but I don't like how they look and I'm afraid of the mercury.
I have compact fluorescent bulbs all over my house which save me so much money since they use 75% less electricity than regular bulbs.
I'm switching my CFLs to LEDs. They have no mercury, use 1/10th the electricity of regular bulbs and are expected to last up to 100,000 hours.
Water use ...
  I have a well so I don't have a water problem.
I turn the water off when I brush my teeth and use the dishwasher/washing machine only when they are full.
I have water savers on all my faucets and wouldn't dream of watering my lawn.
In addition, I have a bucket in the shower to catch grey water to use for things like flushing the toilet or watering my plants.
